Don't Discharge an ICOM Battery

There was a time it was recommended that rechargeable batteries be fully discharged on occasions. Not now. Whoops!

I'd been regularly topping up my ICOM M71 marine VHF, but before our long trip, I thought I'd discharge it fully then charge it again from flat. Big mistake.

Now the battery won't hold any charge and I have to pay £50 for a replacement. Don't make the same mistake.

Thanks for the warning from a fellow M71 owner. I was under the impression that Li-ion battery packs had built-in circuitry to protect against damages from deep discharging. Not good enough, apparently.
